History of Cross of Christ Anglican Church

Cross of Christ Anglican Church was established in November 2008, and is the first Anglican/Episcopal Church in Somervell County, Texas.  We currently have Mission Station status with the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth.
Because we are a tiny congregation, and starting from “ground zero” with funding, we have moved to several different rental locations in the past 17 years.  We have been in our current location since 2014.  We have been blessed to have supply priests, sent to us from the Diocese of Fort Worth, providing a weekly celebration of The Service of Holy Communion.  We currently have two supply priests who alternate weekly visits, giving us a welcome sense of continuity.  We are also grateful to have an ordained Deacon among the members of our congregation.
Since our inception we have strongly emphasized outreach in the community, serving the Somervell County Food Bank, providing clothing for children in need in the Glen Rose Independent School District, and participating in the Glen Rose Ministerial Alliance.  For the past three years, we have sponsored community prayer weekly – first praying for the end of the conflict in Ukraine, and now adding Israel and the Middle East, and conflicts in Africa to our weekly intercessions.

Reaching out to you as He reaches out for us

Lectionary

A lectionary is a systematic way of reading through the Bible within the context of liturgical worship.

Our lectionary is organized so that we read through a majority of the Scriptures on a three-year cycle. We are currently in year C.
